Odisha has stopped issuing physical driving licenses and RCs for vehicles from January 1, 2022.
“Under the 5T (transparency, technology, teamwork, timeframe and transformation) mandates of the state government, we will dispense with the issuance of smart card DL and paper RC from January 1. This will ensure better service delivery to the public and eliminate delays in getting DL and RC via post,” state transport and commerce secretary said.
A dedicated online portal has been created to assist users in downloading these materials.
There will be no need to carry a physical copy of the DL or RC after January 1, 2022, and people will be able to show a printout of the DL or RC to traffic officers.
The chip-based DL is no longer necessary with the introduction of e-challan.
Those who don’t have access to the internet can visit their nearest Jana Seva Kendra to get a copy of the digital DL and RC.
